FunktiFy has roots as the late great Luther Vandross's former touring band: Paulette McWilliams, Ivan Hampden Jr.(drums, arranging, producing), Nat Adderley Jr (keyboards) & Phil Hamilton (guitar) played together for years backing Luther.  On bass is Oskar Cartaya (Spyro Gyra, Jennifer Lopez, Tito Puente) who more recently has been playing with Paulette.  We brought together these veteran players to form the supergroup, FunktiFy, a soul/funk project based on songs by Paulette McWilliams and Ivan Hampden, Jr.  Whereas most modern albums in this genre are recorded with extensive computer editing, drum machines, loops etc, FunktiFy is all about the soul and funk created when great musicians play together. The result demonstrates the fluidity of world class musicians performing together in real time, responding to each other in the most nuanced ways -the way it was done on the classic funk/soul albums of the 60's and 70's.  With a sound that borrows 70's soul music with a modern twist captured by today's most cutting-edge recording techniques, it's no wonder this album feels and sounds so good.  The 12 song album is accompanied by a documentary covering Paulette's amazing life story and the making of the album with stories from each musician.
